Philly Photo Day has always been an act of collective witness. Since its founding, the annual citywide event has invited anyone with a camera — professional or phone-in-pocket — to turn their lens on Philadelphia and submit a single image that captures something true about the city. This year’s theme, How We Stay Free, arrives in a charged moment: the nation’s Semiquincentennial, 250 years since independence was declared in these very streets.

Art Imagined Photography answered that prompt with One, Unseen — a digital composite portrait made in Kensington, one of the city’s most layered and complicated neighborhoods. The image is now part of the official Philly Photo Day exhibition at TILT Institute’s Project Gallery in The Crane Arts Building, on view through June 27.

There are museum visits that inform, and then there are experiences that move you — sometimes literally. On a bright April morning in Philadelphia, I packed my gear and made my way to the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum for their April 11, 2026 Demo Day, themed “Carroll Shelby and the Rise of Professional Racing in America.” What unfolded over the next several hours was nothing short of a living history lesson, one told not in whispered docent tones but in the crack of throttle and the sweet sting of exhaust.

Art Imagined Photography, led by internationally recognized photographer Steven Weisz, will showcase two works from The Garden Sessions at Expo Metro Rome on January 24–25, 2026. This global outdoor digital art exhibition features large-scale LED displays in front of Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II, offering extraordinary visibility to more than 500,000 viewers.

Labor Day weekend arrived with that perfect late-summer light—golden, warm, and inviting. While many photographers might head to crowded festivals or staged events, I decided to spend my mid-morning doing what I love most: wandering through Schuylkill River Park with my camera, capturing the authentic moments that make street photography so compelling.
