Three Aksha Dance Company

Founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Viji Rao, Three Aksha is a Philadelphia-based dance company centered at Girard College. Its primary goal is to preserve and promote Indian culture and heritage
through classical Indian Bharatanatyam dance choreography. The company has gained recognition for its innovative choreography while staying true to the traditions of the Kalakshetra style
of Bharatanatyam, known for its emphasis on the body. The dancers of Three Aksha have trained under Viji for at least six years and have studied with teachers in India.

Three Aksha has performed extensively in major cities across the US, the UK, Europe, and India. Alongside its performances and tours, the company also conducts workshops and lecture-demonstrations
in the Delaware Valley to share its expertise in Indian dance. In line with its socially conscious approach, Three Aksha actively engages with social issues by working with youth and participating in fundraising programs.
