Blanca Huertas-Agnew began her dance training in Puerto Rico under the guidance of her mother, Blanca E. Cortés. She joined Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico as an Apprentice and later became a member of the corps of ballet under the direction of Lolita San Miguel. She also performed with Ballets de San Juan, where she achieved the title of Principal Soloist under Ana García’s direction. Blanca has showcased her talents in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary repertoires throughout her career, performing in Puerto Rico, the United States, Central America, South America, and Europe.
During her formative years, Blanca had the privilege of learning from renowned dance professors, including Michael Vernon, Alexander Filipov, Amelia Gilmore, Francesca Corkle, and many others. This diverse training shaped her multifaceted career.
As an educator, Blanca is an ABT® Certified Teacher, having completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive. She is also an ABT® Affiliate Teacher, recognized for presenting students for examinations with High Honors. Blanca has taught at Philadelphia Ballet, served as an adjudicator on their national audition tour, and led teaching artist programs for Pennsylvania Ballet. She is a faculty member at La Academia de Ballet Hispanico in New York City.
Blanca holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Temple University, with concentrations in Risk Management & Insurance and Real Estate. In 2019, she earned an MFA in Choreography with high honors, receiving the Howard Gilman Fellowship Award at Jacksonville University. Blanca has choreographed for Drexel University and served as an Adjunct Professor in their Dance Program. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Puerto Rico Classical Dance Competition, the first of its kind on the island. Currently, Blanca serves as the Program Director of Dance at Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University.
